Party bags are such a fun part of a party! I was looking for some party bag inspiration recently when I came across Oh Goodie, the answer to all of our party bag woes! They make the cutest cotton bags, pre-filled with the loveliest treats for your little ones. We asked them if they would share some of their top tips for creating the best party bags.
Top Tips for Party Bags
As a mama of a toddler (and another on the way!) I know how stressful it can be planning your child’s birthday party – there’s food, drinks, balloons, entertainment, location, decorations and I haven’t even mentioned the CAKE yet! So, when it comes to planning your party bags and favors, here are my Top Tips for Party Bags for making it as simple and as stress free as possible:
Choose a theme for your Party Bags
While it can be tempting to go to Kmart and load up a paper or plastic bag full of mismatched novelty toys and lollies, having a colour scheme or party theme which ties all the Goodie bags and favours together can give your party that extra ‘wow’ factor as well as provide a really cohesive and memorable finish to your guest’s party experience.
Pinterest is your best friend
Seriously, it’s like the social media mecca for all party inspo including party bags. If you’re stuck for ideas or want to try a bit of DIY then search ‘kids party bags’ on Pinterest and get ready to be inspired!
Less is MORE
You don’t have to have a bag choc-a-bloc full of toys and lollies for it to be an EPIC goody bag. Having just a couple of fun things for the kids to play with or eat can be just as effective. You might even like to have one really awesome party favour such as a story book which might cost a little more. This will provide the kids with a memorable keepsake that won’t just end up in the bin at the end of the day!
Allocate yourself time
When it comes to planning a kid’s party, often party bags are one of the last items on the list. This could mean a last-minute dash to the shops and sky-high stress levels when you’re furiously trying to put them together before guests arrive.
Make sure you include time in your party planning to go out and source your Goodie bags and fillers. Then you can put them together at least a day or two before.
This will avoid any unnecessary stress come the day of the party.
Keep sugar to a minimum
The old school idea of the ‘lolly bag’ is definitely disappearing! This is because no parent wants their child bouncing off the walls long after the party is over!
Consider keeping sugar to a minimum and choosing party favours that are just as FUN.
Things like playdough or stickers are fun but won’t turn your kids into sugar crazed monsters for hours afterwards.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help
If making your own bags aren’t your thing and #aintnobodygottimeforthat then don’t be afraid to ask for help. Ask a family member or friend who is creative or crafty if they can take on the task. Or you can always purchase pre-filled bags that can be delivered to your door. You don’t even have to lift a finger!
